Community Based Tourism in South East Asia
Asia Adventures is proud to be supporting community based tourism in South East Asia, helping those less fortunate help themselves, and alleviate poverty. Many countries across the region have large sections of their populations living in poverty, and there are many varying, complex reasons for this. In an attempt to help alleviate this poverty Asia Adventures represents a unique and inspirational approach to travel by offering our travelling friends the opportunity to interact with the local community and to provide assistance to them, helping them build a brighter future. Unlike many travel agents and tour operators in the region who keep their clients insulated from real local communities Asia Adventures actively supports and encourages interaction as we present our guests the opportunity to meet, experience, taste and enjoy the true essence of South East Asia. If before, during, or after this cultural exchange any of our guests wish to provide material assistance we can help advise and facilitate.
Asia Adventures has a deep and ongoing commitment to the less fortunate people in each of the countries we operate within. We do this through a network of long-standing contacts that have been built from our own personal efforts within the community. An underlying knowledge of the community and its basic and fundamental needs is paramount to providing assistance where it is most needed. To see a selection of some of the organisations we work closely with please take a look at our 'Good Cause Tourism' section.
As well as supporting organisations that are not directly involved in tourism Asia Adventures supports the small, but growing number of Community Based Tourism projects in the region. Poor rural villagers have realised that their local communities: the way they live; their farming and craft traditions; their local folklore and culture; their materials and clothing; their dance and singing; their food and drink; their natural surroundings; and their very homes are fascinating for many people from other countries. Thus they have established small scale tourism projects where guests can really experience the country they are visiting, and the revenue generated is much welcomed.
Our Community Based Tourism initiatives offer life long experiences that are not only unique, but whose unforgettable memories will remain timeless.
