Cruises in Cambodia on the Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake

The opportunity to take a cruise or a boat trip along the mighty Mekong River or across the vast Tonle Sap lake should not be missed. The mighty Mekong river is a lifeline running through the heart of South East Asia. Rising in the Himalayan mountains of Tibet, it winds its way through China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam before spilling into the South China Sea. The Tonle Sap (South East Asia’s largest lake) is said to be the heartbeat of Cambodia as its annual pulse of flooding has been central to Cambodia’s existence for millennia. Follow the waters of early Mekong explorers as you cruise these timeless waterways. A wonderful way to experience local life that has remained unchanged for centuries, at a gentle pace. Stop off in small communities along the riverbank, visit remote temples far from the beaten tourist path and enjoy the comfort of first class facilities on board your boat. Try a luxury Mekong cruise between Saigon and Siem Reap, from the economic heart of southern Vietnam to the historic heart of Cambodia at the temples of Angkor, or enjoy the enthralling boat trip between Siem Reap and the laid back colonial ‘city’ of Battambang. River cruises are a memorable experience, savour the magic of these ancient waterways like the explorers of old...

RV Mekong Pandaw - Between Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Saigon

The much loved Pandaw fleet of boats owned and operated by the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company will be familiar to many veteran travellers. The original Pandaw was a Scots built paddle steamer refitted to a high standard of comfort with deluxe staterooms. The intention was to recreate the atmosphere of the colonial steamers that carried royal princes, viceroys and a succession of famous artists, writers and poets, and this has been fulfilled admirably. Steaming along the waterways between Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap (with occasional diversions to Kompong Cham & Kratie, is a stylish method of travelling to and from the wonderful Angkor temples. For more infrmation on RV Mekong Pandaw cruises please click here.

Mekong River & Tonle Sap Cruise Itineraries

Battambang Encounter (4 days / 3 nights) - 1 Day Cruise

A 4 day loop from Siem Reap giving an introduction to the laid-back, charming ‘city’ of Battambang, via a fascinating cruise on the Tonle Sap lake, passing enthralling floating villages. In Battambang you will discover Angkorian temples, hilltop pagodas, and traditional farming villages. Then north to the vast temple of Banteay Chhmar and visits to various silk weaving villages to learn how this beautiful fabric is making a comeback in Cambodia.

Toum Tiou: Phnom Penh ~ Siem Reap Cruise (3 Days / 2 Nights)

A short but delightful cruise allowing you an insight into the fascinating Cambodian river life as you sail the Tonle Sap river (whose flow changes direction for parts of the year!), and across the vast Tonle Sap lake (South East Asia’s largest). You will explore remote riverside villages as well as those who live on the river in remarkable floating villages.

Toum Tiou: Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) ~ Phnom Penh Cruise (6 Days / 5 Nights)

By far the best way to explore the beauty of the famous Vietnamese Mekong Delta is by boat.
