The itinerary for your wonderful 1 day Izabella cruise
- / L / -
Silversmith, Izabella, CambodiaAn early start as you embark the Izabella at Phnom Penh Boat Port at 06:45, and depart at 07:00. Your first destination is Koh Chen (Chinese Island), a small village whose inhabitants specialize in silver and copper smelting, making ornamental items including delicately engraved tropical fruits used at traditional ceremonies and marriages. You then continue up the Tonle Sap river to the village of  Kompong Tralach and visit its wonderful rural pagoda. To access the pagoda you need to walk through the village and across beautiful stretches of emerald rice paddy fields. This is an interesting but modest pagoda and due to its relative isolation receives few visitors, local or foreign! Back on the Izabella you follow the river to Kompong Chhnang which is one of the largest fishing ports on the Tonle Sap, yet is also famous for its pottery, a style which has remained unchanged for centuries. Here you will get to visit a potters village and see them at work. This area is also famed for the sugar palm tree (a real national symbol), here you can taste the caramel coloured sugar sold in large cakes and also sugar palm wine.

Floating Village, Izabella, CambodiaBack on board the Izabella you will be served lunch as you sail out onto the vast expanse of the Tonle Sap lake (the largest in South East Asia) towards Chnok Tru. Chnok Tru is the biggest floating village on the lake, which is almost totally overlooked by tourists because of its remoteness and difficult access, the village is totally self sufficient. Not only are all trades represented but everybody from children to grandparents go by boat through the network of canals that criss-cross the village. You will also have a rare opportunity to visit a local floating house. After some time discovering the fascinating Chnok Tru you will spend a relaxing couple of hours as you cross the Tonle Sap lake, and pass through Chong Khneas (another floating village) before arriving in Siem Reap Boat Port. From the port you will be transferred into Siem Reap town having had a wonderful day experiencing sights, sounds, and smells that are definitely off the well-worn tourist trail…

The Izabella has a capacity of 20 passengers, and there must be a minimum of 4 people travelling for the cruise to operate (min 8 in the low season).

For more information, departure dates, and availability please email us as we will be happy to discuss your individual requirements.
