Sunway Hotel
Grade: First Class
The Sunway Hotel is the only 4 star international hotel chain in Phnom Penh, and is surrounded by pleasant parks, is next to Wat Phnom, opposite the American Embassy, in the heart of the old French Quarter, and close to the vibrant riverside, meaning there is a lot of interest close at hand. The rooms are comfortable and exceptionally well maintained, have a good range of facilities, with some having balconies. Although there is no pool there is a gym with steam rooms, saunas, and Jacuzzi as well as a Spa where you can receive a relaxing massage. The Sunway sponsors the Cambodian National Disabled Volleyball team and supports various other good causes.
Our opinion: A highlight of the Sunway is its dining, the chef’s are continually treating the guests to new mouthwatering menu choices, including the spectacular annual Oktoberfest!

Imperial Garden Villa & Hotel
Grade: Medium
The Imperial Garden Villa & Hotel in the heart of Phnom Penh next to the Tonle Sap river offers comfortable accommodation, and the pleasant and courteous staff do all they can to ensure your stay is a memorable one. All the well presented rooms have internet access and the river view rooms have impressive panoramas of the Tonle Sap, Tonle Bassac, and Mekong Rivers. The outdoor free-form pool is an ideal spot for relaxing, after a workout at the gym or a game of tennis perhaps? As well as being surrounded by the bustling riverfront parks the Imperial Garden is also located near the Chaktomuk funfair which is a lively and entertaining place to spend the early evening.
Our opinion: Clean and functional rooms in a well presented hotel, the well appointed villas are ideal for families.

FCC Phnom Penh
Grade: Medium
Renowned as one of the best places to eat in Phnom Penh, the FCC (Foreign Correspondence Club) also has seven rooms, some with balconies offering pleasant views of the river. Each room is named after an ancient Angkorian temple, such as Banteay Srei, Ta Som or Preah Khan, and each has its own distinct design. The rooms are simple yet meticulously outfitted with the latest modern conveniences and feature high-speed internet access. Being part of the FCC means that you are never far away from one of the best river views in town. A popular choice is to enjoy an early evening drink in the fine colonial bar whilst watching the riverside life pass by beneath.
Our opinion: The charming colonial character and prime location more than make up for the simple rooms. However, book early, these 7 rooms are in high demand!

The Pavilion
Grade: Medium
A beautiful boutique guesthouse set in a former Queen's renovated 1920s French colonial villa located behind the Royal Palace. The entire guesthouse is furnished with a tasteful mix of antique and contemporary furniture, prints, ornaments and artifacts. All the custom-made furniture is palm wood rather than luxurious (possibly illegally logged) hard wood, and the hot water is solar generated. The airy, large rooms either have a small balcony or garden, and complimentary WiFi. The small outdoor bar and restaurant overlooks the pool which is surrounded by lush gardens with 'bed' seating hidden amongst the plants for privacy, and tasteful soft background music lazily wafts around.
Our opinion: If you’re looking for a charming, laidback, peaceful, intimate stay in the heart of Phnom Penh, surrounded by character, The Pavilion is hard to beat…

Hotel Cara
Grade: Medium
Hotel Cara is situated near to Wat Phnom in a modern 4 storey building. The interior has been thoughtfully decorated in a contemporary style featuring traditional materials such as hardwood, sandstone, bamboo, and silk. There are 51 uniquely decorated rooms highlighting the balance between space and lighting. Wall décor is intentionally kept to a minimum with the exception of handmade lighting accessories and mirrors. Walls are splashed in contrasting pastel hues to bring out vibrancy and life. The Domrey Fusion Restaurant is a delight with over 100 dishes ranging from local to international cuisine, each dish carefully crafted with meticulous care.
Our opinion: The Luxury Balcony rooms are great value, the restaurant is worth experiencing, and the vibrant Riverside is closeby…

Bougainvillier Hotel
Grade: Medium
A wonderful boutique addition to Phnom Penh's hotel choice, the Bougainvillier is located in the heart of the city on the banks of the Tonle Sap river with views of the mighty Mekong river also - the Bougainvillier is only a 5 minute walk from the Royal Palace and National Museum. The air conditioned rooms are decadently and exotically furnished in a Khmer / Chinese style, with beautifully embroidered silk bedspreads, elegant Khmer silk wall hangings, and delightful pictures and sculptures dot the rooms. The river view suites are the number one choice featuring a spacious lounge facing the river, and not forgetting the excellent restaurant with a fine wine list…
Our opinion: Truly a unique experience, there is no other place quite like the Bougainvillier in Phnom Penh.
