Anise Hotel
Grade: Medium
Being the younger sister of the upmarket Amanjaya boutique hotel you can expect the same high level of service, attention to detail, and tasteful Khmer design elements at a fraction of the price. All the rooms are equipped with free laptop internet hook-ups, and complimentary water, tea & coffee, as well as a minibar. The Superior and Deluxe rooms come with baths in addition to a shower, and boast DVD and CD players. The terrace restaurant is also a delight as it is managed by the owner of one of Phnom Penh’s most renown restaurants, Malis. The Anise Hotel is intimate with only 19 rooms and is located near the Independence Monument.
Our opinion: A pleasant hotel with a great value-for-money restaurant, relaxing bar with a different ‘special’ each evening, and not to forget the free laundry service!

The Boddhi Tree
Grade: Medium
The Boddhi Tree is a small boutique guesthouse located in a traditional Khmer house renovated in a contemporary style and beautifully furnished. It is set amidst a verdant, serene garden area, close to Toul Sleng. It has a very friendly, low key, and relaxed ambience. Each of the 12 rooms is lovingly decorated with Khmer silks and artefacts. The restaurant serves delicious food, a fusion of traditional Khmer and modern European dishes. The Boddhi Tree supports a number of local projects, in particular the 'Childsafe' project which aims to protect children at risk in Cambodia.
Our opinion: Coming soon...

Billabong Hotel
Grade: Medium
As its name implies the centrally located Billabong Hotel is Australian owned, so it should come as no surprise that the focal point of this mini-hotel is a great free-form swimming pool surrounded by beautiful palm trees. All the rooms are air-conditioned, very clean and well looked after. The Deluxe rooms are certainly worth paying the extra for, not only for the enhanced décor but also for the great pool views. On the ground floor there is a pleasant restaurant which also has WiFi internet for catching up on those emails whilst relaxing next to the pool.
Our opinion: Located very close to the lively Street 51, ‘Bar Street’, but not so close that you will be disturbed, the Billabong has a friendly atmosphere.

Juliana Hotel
Grade: Medium
The Juliana Hotel is a little oasis in a quiet part of the city near the Olympic Stadium. The rooms are clean and modern with the Deluxe having polished wooden floors. The central pool is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh, as is the small outside Jacuzzi nearby. The Vanda Restaurant features fine Western and Asian cuisine, a buffet lunch and a mouth watering grand barbecue seafood dinner buffet, which is well worth experiencing.
Our opinion: A true haven in western Phnom Penh that will not disappoint.
