The Victoria Angkor’s design is inspired by the early 20th century French colonial period, and truly represents the nostalgic comfort and elegant refinement of ‘French Art de Vivre’. The hotel is full of character and incorporates Khmer cultural and historical influences. The refined lobby gives way to one of the nicest swimming pools in Siem Reap, set in a courtyard surrounded by lush, shady vegetation. The 130 rooms all have a colonial feel and are designed with beautiful hardwood floors, elegant furniture, beautiful fabrics and original artifacts, plus they all have private balconies, some overlooking the pool, others overlooking the impressive Royal Gardens. The buffet breakfast next to the pool is a delight and the restaurants Khmer and international food is of a high standard. Regally located next to the King’s Residence the Victoria Angkor is now amongst Siem Reap's premier hotels.

Our opinion: An excellent choice full of character, from the colonial artifacts to the old style elevator. The hotels shaded corridors are bliss in the midday heat, and look out for the baby crocodiles!

Heritage Suites

Grade: First Class

As soon as you enter the expansive French colonial style reception cum classic bar cum stylish art gallery cum romantic restaurant you know that the boutique Heritage Suites just exudes style, harmoniously combining the colonial era with modernity. Whilst the deluxe rooms are well appointed in a minimalist style it the signature suites that really catch the eye. Hidden away past the beautiful boutique selling fabulous silks, through the lush gardens, and beyond the elegant pool area these secluded living spaces are possibly the most romantic in town. Each one has a different theme and colour scheme, however they all contain wonderful design elements, are spacious having floor to ceiling windows overlooking a private garden with outdoor shower, open oval bathtubs, a steam room, and the beds are so comfy it’s a challenge to leave them! The Master and Royal Suites even have private outdoor Jacuzzis and plunge pools. The perfect spot for honeymooners, anniversaries, and lovebirds… The Heritage Suites is a member of the Relais & Chateaux hotel collection.

Our opinion: A unique choice, a haven of tranquility and privacy, a must for any incurable romantics… Truly needs to be seen to be believed…

La Maison d'Angkor

Grade: Medium

La Maison d’Angkor is a chic little hideaway where you can shelter in the lush gardens away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Seam Reap. As well as there being private sun loungers, and an outdoor Jacuzzi hidden amongst the luxuriant tropical garden, you can also lounge around the refreshing 26m pool. The 16 whitewashed bungalow-style rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with local fabrics and wooden furniture. The elegant white walls are set off with a black trim and subtle Khmer touches. The bathrooms are delightful with double sinks, a stone floor rain shower, and pebble and flower decorations. All the rooms come with a quality king-size bed, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, a minibar, and a terrace overlooking the pool and lush gardens. The restaurant has a colonial feel and also overlooks the pool and serves tasty cuisine. La Maison d’Angkor is in a great location, convenient for the airport and close to the ‘back’ road to the Angkor Wat temples, avoiding the increasingly heavy traffic in the town centre.

Our opinion: Being a little out of town makes L’Maison d’Angkor a peaceful retreat, a great place to fully relax – excellent quality at a great price!

Casa Angkor Hotel

Grade: Medium

The Casa Angkor Hotel is located in the pleasant French Quarter of Siem Reap town and itself has a subtle colonial feel. The hotel is spotlessly clean, has 95 rooms on four floors and elevators. There is a pleasant pool surrounded by shady trees and a refreshingly breezy terrace nearby, excellent places to escape from the midday heat. The rooms are well appointed with most of the amenities you would expect, the design is classic with Khmer silk wall hangings and bed covers. You can pamper yourself by taking a soothing massage at the Spa, indulge in the restaurants great food, or treat yourself to some exquisite Khmer silk in the hotel’s boutique.

Our opinion: A good choice in a fine location, the poolside 'Happy Hour' cocktails are a treat!

Bopha Angkor Hotel

Grade: Medium

The Bopha Angkor Hotel is located on the quieter east bank of the Siem Reap river in a lush garden setting. After checking in and enjoying the ‘Welcome’ drink and cold towel you are led through the decorative restaurant which serves delicious Khmer food and has an excellent reputation. After which paths lead off through the grounds in all directions, disappearing around the various buildings and winding through the gardens, and passing the relaxing pool. There are 38 rooms in total all of varying sizes, décor and orientation. However, they all have a similar Khmer feel, with stone sculptured skirting boards and covings, terracotta floor tiles, rattan ceilings, and Khmer silk hangings, and all the beds come with an elegant mosquito net lending a certain colonial atmosphere.

Our opinion: Fascinating mazy layout, the service is deserving of a higher standard hotel, and the food is superb.

Day Inn Angkor

Grade: Medium

The Day Inn Angkor Resort is set in a peaceful environment in the heart of Siem Reap being within easy walking distance of the Old Market and bars. The rooms are nicely decorated in either a stylish wooden interior or in cozy rattan furnishings, and come with all modern amenities. All the rooms enjoy a balcony view of the beautifully landscaped gardens, good sized swimming pool, and patio dining. The Tropicana Restaurant serves traditional Khmer, Asian and European cuisine prepared by the hotel’s renowned chef. The Day Inn Angkor has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and courteous staff who attend to all your needs ensuring your stay is comfortable and memorable.
