Amansara

The Amansara is truly opulent and arguably the most relaxing and private place to stay in Siem Reap. The villa complex is an architectural gem being quintessentially 60s in character and was constructed during that time for King Norodom Sihanouk, who used it for visiting dignitaries. The 24 suite retreat has the ambience of a gracious home and is shaded by mature trees. The suites are arranged around a grassed courtyard facing an eccentric curved pool. They are all elegantly simple open plan design with finishes in terrazzo and timber, a muted and earthy colour scheme with a delicate incense aroma and soft background meditation music. Floor to ceiling windows look out over a private garden with fish pond, and the Pool Suites even have their own mini-pools! On arrival you are introduced to your personal assistant who will ensure your stay is a delightful one. The Amansara supports various community projects ranging from social care to performing arts, children’s health to wild life preservation, and they can help you become involved if you wish.

Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor

The Grand Hotel d'Angkor has been welcoming visitors to Cambodia's Khmer temples for over 75 years, and for cache the hotel cannot be beaten - Charlie Chaplin and Jose Carreras have stayed here, it was the headquarters of both the Khmer Rouge and the UN at various times, and its famous old restaurant is one of the best in town. The hotel has been extensively refurbished by the Raffles of Singapore group and offers a very high standard of accommodation, facilities, and service. Local craftsmen were used during the renovation and their work has recaptured the old colonial charm and art-deco style of the building.
